Enjoy the comforts of home at Fairwinds Farm, a working horse farm located in the heart of Maryland horse country. You can also go fishing in the pond and help gather eggs from the henhouse by visiting Rascal the goat. After breakfast, you can choose from a riding lesson, carriage ride, or trail ride, and take a stroll through our gift shop. Everyone is welcome, including kids! Don't forget to bring your horses! About The Owners:
Ted and JoAnn Dawson acquired extensive business and horse experience while operating Carousel Farm & Riding Stables in Delaware from 1986 to 1998. It was in 1999 that they opened Fairwinds Farm & Stables. JoAnn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Ag Education from the University of Delaware, as well as a Master of Education degree from the University of Delaware. Besides teaching Equine Science, she teaches Theatre at Cecil College. Ted holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Finance from the University of Delaware. Throughout his career, he has worked in the farming industry, including the production of dairy products, crops, livestock, and fish. At Cecil College, he teaches equestrian classes and is a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau.

Facilities
1. The Farm - Located on 52 partially wooded acres, their facility includes six fenced fields, an indoor and outdoor ring, and two barns. Our restored Victorian home doubles as a Bed & Breakfast!
2. Indoor Ring - Natural light illuminates their unique "Cover All" arena, which gives the sensation of riding outside. For winter riding, you can call to reserve the ring. During the months of May to mid-October, our ring is completely transformed into a wedding ring.
3. Outdoor Ring - An outdoor lighted sand ring measuring 100' x 200' is regularly groomed and a jump course is set up.
4. Barns - The two barns consist of 28 stalls ranging in size from 12 x 12 to 14 x 14, as well as tack rooms, heated offices, and wash stalls. Overnight lay-ups are accepted with turnout included.
5. Cross Country & Trails - There are logs, coops, tires, and other natural jumps between 18" and 2'6" on their cross-country course. Just what you need if you are just starting out in cross-country! There are trails that can last from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on the route you choose.

1. Riding Lessons
Their services include private, semi-private, and group riding lessons for beginners, intermediates, and advanced riders. They offer a wide range of dependable horses suitable for riders at all levels. The classes are organized according to the level of riding and the age of the participants.
2. Summer Camp
Fairwinds Farm places the highest priority on safety. As the week progresses, riders will acquire valuable skills in both the saddle and on the ground.
3. Trail Rides
Would you like to try riding a horse for the first time? The trails at Fairwinds Farm are designed especially for you with quiet, dependable horses.
4. Pony Rides
This is for the little ones! Pony rides are available at either our location or yours.
