Ohio Horseman's Council
The Ohio Horseman's Council is the largest Ohio non-profit equine organization representing riders of all ages, disciplines, and breeds of horses. With county chapters, OHC provides service to members and acts as the trusted advocate for equine participants at all levels of government, zealously advocating for access to public lands. To ensure Ohio's trails are preserved for future generations, you can join them in supporting their volunteers.
It was in 1972 that a group of horse riders sought to ride on local public lands that had trails for hiking and snowmobiling. Volunteers committed to helping preserve those trails along with other non-motorized users for shared access. By 2022, volunteers from the Ohio Horseman's Council are building and maintaining trails in state and federal parks and forests throughout Ohio. There are more than 1,800 miles of trails for horse riders to explore. All of us are responsible for taking care of our trails by donating our time, respecting the trail, and organizing our efforts.
