Horse Riding
Includes: Steve Mill Falls Loop, Black Oak Ridge Loop, High Mountain Loop, and Gap Hollow Loop. Steve Mill Falls Loop begins at the horse camp and meanders along Moccasin Creek past several waterfalls. This is a good ride for even inexperienced riders. This trail connects directly to Gap Hollow Loop and to Black Oak Ridge Loop. Black Oak Ridge Loop consists of one large loop that connects directly to High Mountain Loop. Much of this loop is off forest roads and travels along the ridge above Moccasin Hollow. There is easy access to Mack's pines from the south end of the trail if you need to pick up supplies. High Mountain Loop is a long loop made up of a series of trails that can be ridden in many combinations. The outermost loop of High Mountain crosses Moccasin Creek twice and then follows it for some distance. Includes waterfalls and overlooks. The trail along this section is rocky and very steep for about 2 miles and is not recommended for novice riders and/or inexperienced horses. Much of the remainder of High Mountain Loop is on old logging roads and is easily traveled by all riders. Gap Hollow Loop leaves from the horse camp. It is a combination of timber roads and trails. the northern trail was constructed for the use of horses only. It offers some secluded, rustic riding. This is a more challenging trail than Stave Mills Falls, yet is easy enough for any rider to enjoy.
