Directions: 

From I-10 take exit 22 for FL-281 N toward Milton/Gulf Breeze. Head North on FL-281 N (Avalon Blvd.) for 4 miles to US-90 E (Caroline St.) and turn Right. Go to Highway 87 (Stewart Street) at the Burger King restaurant and turn left. Go .8 miles to the Milton High School and turn right on Highway 191 (Munson Highway.) Continue 14 miles to the Coldwater Recreation Area sign. Turn left and follow the pavement 5.5 miles to the facility.

From the west on State Road 4, drive 2 miles past the 4-way stop at the Berrydale Intersection of State Road 87 and State Road 4. Turn right on Gordon Land Road. Travel 4.5 miles to the facility.

Policies:

  • Drive on designated roads only.
  • The speed limit on all State Forest roads is 30 mph unless posted otherwise.
  • Do not obstruct roads, gates, or fire lines.
  • Possession of alcoholic beverages is prohibited where posted.
  • Removal or destruction of cultural artifacts, plants, or animals is prohibited except for the legal game during scheduled hunts.
  • Take all garbage with you when you leave the forest if a container is not available in the area that you visit.
  • Leashed pets are welcome in designated areas in most State Forests. Please check with the State Forest before visiting.
  • All horses must have proof of current negative Coggins test results when in State Forests.
  • All equestrian riders under age 16 must, by law, wear a certified helmet in State Forests. A parent or guardian of a child under 16 years of age may not authorize or knowingly permit a child to ride without a helmet. The responsibility lies with any trainer, instructor or supervisor who rents or leases an equine to be ridden by a child younger than 16 or rents or leases equine supplies.
  • Hunting and fishing in State Forests are regulated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, according to published seasons, license requirements, etc. Hunting requires a license and permit and is allowed only during established seasons.
  • Swim in designated areas at your own risk.
  • No rope swings or diving from stream banks or trees.
  • Glass containers are not allowed on any State Forest waterways.
