Welcome to Rock Bottom Horse Camp, a haven for equestrian enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Situated in the scenic town of Ewing, Virginia, this campground stands proudly at the eastern edge of the illustrious Cumberland Gap National Historical Park.

A Gateway to Adventure

Rock Bottom Horse Camp serves as a gateway to an expansive network of trails within Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. Riders can embark on a short jaunt from the campground to access trails that lead to captivating landmarks like the White Rocks, Sand Cave, and Hensley Settlement. With over 70 miles of backcountry riding trails, the park beckons adventurers to explore its rugged beauty on horseback, while hikers can revel in more than 85 miles of hiking trails.

Campground Facilities

At Rock Bottom Horse Camp, convenience and comfort are paramount. The campground boasts eight spacious sites designed to accommodate horse trailers or RVs. Each site comes complete with a picnic table and a fire ring, fostering a cozy environment for gathering around the fire under the starlit skies.

Rock Bottom Horse Camp offers the following facilities and amenities:

  • Sites for horse trailers or RV
  • Water and 50/30/20 amp electrical connections.
  • Tent sites
  • 8 stalls and 8 corrals for keeping your animals safe.
  • 4 stalls are 10' x 14' solid wood sides
  • 4 stalls are 10' x 16' with divider panels
  • Uncovered corrals are 12' x '12
  • All stalls and corrals have a limestone sand base
  • Equestria trails

 

Cost Details:

  • RV/Trailers sites w/electric & water - $25  
  • RV/Trailers primitive sites - $20
  • Tent sites - $15
  • Stalls - 10'x12' - $20
  • Corrals - 12'x12' - $15
  • Deposit - 1 nights fee per site, stall & corral
  • Day parking per rig -$5
  • Day parking during a holiday or event - $5 per person

 

Policies:

  • Dogs are allowed. However, they must be on a leash or in your vehicle or camper at all times. Do not tie them to or around water or electric hookups. Do Not bring aggressive dogs.
  • Owners are responsible for cleanup up after their pets.  All animal waste must be cleaned up in plastic bags and deposited in the dumpster.
  • Children 10 and under in age must be attended by an adult in the barns. Children 16 and under are not allowed to drive ATVs, golf carts, or any motorized vehicles on the premises.
  • If you need us, and we aren't out, please call us at 229-445-6676, or use the call box at the gate located at the entrance of the campground. We ask that you respect our privacy and not come to our home.
  • All horses must have a current negative Coggins Test and provide it to camp staff prior to unloading.           
  • Halters must be removed from all equine while equine is in the stalls.

  • Holidays are to be paid in full within 7 days before arrival date.
