Rockin K Horse Campground: A Horse Campsite like No Other in Kansas. For horse enthusiasts, finding the perfect horse campsite can be a challenging task. However, if you're in Kansas, the search just got easier thanks to Rockin K Horse Campground. As the designated campground for equestrians, this campground offers convenient and comfortable accommodations for both horses and riders alike.

Kanopolis State Park

Located along the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway northwest of Marquette along K-141, about 5 miles north of the K-4/K-141 junction, or about 7 miles south of the K-140/K-141 junction east of Ellsworth, Rockin K Horse Campground is a prime location for those looking to experience the great outdoors on horseback. With easy trail access and a range of amenities, it's no surprise that this horse campsite is a favorite among equestrians.

The campground features ten sites, with sites 1-4 being ADA-accessible for persons with special needs. All sites are reservable for equestrians and offer electricity and water hookups. For non-equestrians, sites 1-10 are available by request or reservation, making this campground a great option for those looking for a peaceful getaway regardless of whether or not they own horses.

One of the highlights of Kanopolis State Park is its access to over 30 miles of trails open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders. Fifteen of these miles are in the nearby Smoky Hill Wildlife Area, providing a unique opportunity to view Kansas' natural beauty from a different perspective. The 3,500-acre lake and 12,500-acre wildlife area also offer abundant opportunities for anglers and hunters.

Another exciting sight near the campground is Faris Caves. Nestled near the Smoky Hill River toward the northwest corner of the wildlife area, these caves were carved by early pioneers and served as a milk house, schoolhouse, and living quarters. They provide a fascinating glimpse into the life of early settlers in the region.

Overall, Rockin K Horse Campground in Kanopolis State Park is a must-visit for horse enthusiasts or those who simply enjoy the great outdoors.
