As one of Oklahoma's original seven state parks, Roman Nose State Park is named in honor of a Cheyenne chief. This state park features an 18-hole golf course, hiking trails, trout fishing in season, canoeing, paddle boats, mountain biking, and horseback rides by reservation, all of which are surrounded by a beautiful canyon and gypsum rock cliffs. You can enjoy fishing and no-wake boating at the park, but swimming is only allowed at the two pools. Guests staying at lodges and cabins are welcome to use the lodge pool. A small fee is charged for access to the fully restored Civilian Conservation Corps pool. The pool accepts cash only, but the lodge lobby has an ATM.
Book a stay at the stunning Roman Nose State Park Lodge for a truly unforgettable experience. This 22-room lodge was built in 1956 and has been renovated to reflect the natural landscape. The reconstruction beautifully preserves and updates the lodge's original mid-century design. Newly renovated rooms offer large showers, comfy beds, contemporary furnishings, and large flat-screen televisions. There are no pets allowed at the lodge. For hours, menu, horseback rides, and boat rentals at the nearby Roman Nose General Store, check their Facebook page.
The Roman Nose State Park also features 11 cabins. A queen-sized bed, queen sleeper couch in the living room, a microwave, coffee maker, dishes, linens, and a fireplace are among the amenities. There are two cabins that are pet-friendly. The Pioneer Cabin offers sleeping accommodations for up to five people between a queen-sized sleeper sofa in the living room and a full bed and twin bed in the bedroom, which can both be adjusted to fit individual needs. Furthermore, it features a fully-equipped kitchen, a ground-level entrance shower, and a spacious floor plan that is ADA-accessible.
Among the campground facilities at Roman Nose State Park are sites with full hookups, sites with water and electric hookups, and tent sites. All campsites must be reserved online. The park offers teepees for overnight stays from April through October. Each of these spacious structures sleeps up to four adults and features an outdoor fire ring and grill as well as an indoor electrical outlet.
If you have a larger group, you should book the Turkey Roost Group Camp. There is a dining hall and an A-frame bunkhouse in this private area that can accommodate up to 163 overnight guests.
Roman Nose State Park also contains the Roman Nose Golf Course. With 18 holes and a par of 70, this course features bent grass greens and Bermuda grass tees and fairways, natural hazards, a lake view, canyon walls, and mesas. Our facilities include a putting green and a pro shop that provides cart and club rentals, snacks, and beverages.
