One of the most attractive features of Rustic Sky Horse Camp is its horse facilities. The campsite currently offers 116 stalls, most of which are 12 x 12, but some are smaller. All the stalls come with muck forks, muck carts, lights, and water hoses that reach each stall, and most have walkways. Furthermore, all stalls are covered, making it a safe and comfortable environment for your equine companions.
In addition to the stalls, Rustic Sky also provides 51 campsites equipped with water and electricity, with 42 of them featuring sewer, and 33 with 50 Amp hookups available. Visitors are encouraged to check with the office for more details, and a camp map is provided to help locate each site. A variety of camping options are available, from RVs to tents, making it easy to tailor your experience to your preferences or needs.
The location of Rustic Sky Horse Camp offers the best of both worlds. It is situated approximately 25 miles southwest of Alexandria, Louisiana, and borders the Kisatchie National Forest. The Forest encompasses 138 miles of horseback riding trails and unlimited cross-country and road riding, making it a paradise for horse enthusiasts. The Evangeline Unit of the Calcasieu Ranger District, the gateway to the forest, is located on-site and covers 151 square miles, including 97,000 acres of upland pine, hardwood, and more.
Visitors can explore the beauty of the Calcasieu Ranger District by hiking along the scenic Wild Azalea Trail and Spur or taking in the panoramic views from the shores of Kincaid Reservoir or Valentine Lakes. Other nearby lakes, such as Cocodrie and Indian Creek, are also easily accessible.

Policies:
- Register and promptly affirm a Negative Coggins for all your horses at the Rustic Sky Office.
- Campsites are to be used for living quarters, horse trailers, 5th wheel, pull-type campers, and motor homes. Additional trailers that accompany the above must be parked in their designated area.
- Stalls are available and must be cleaned daily. Manure, hay, and shavings should be placed in a manure wagon and dumped at the manure dump station on the South side of the Camp. Muck Forks, Water Hoses to Stalls, and Muck Wagons are provided.
- Do not tie your horse to the fences or the trees. Horses are not allowed in the playground area. No overnight tying of horses to the trailers except in primitive areas.
- Dogs must be with their owners at all times and are NOT allowed in the saloon or at the pavilion. MUST BE ON LEASH WHILE IN CAMPGROUND! Certain breeds of dogs are restricted - call Office for specifics.
- No smoking in cabins, suites, saloons, barns, and pavilions. Please DO NOT throw cigarette butts on the ground or in trash cans until you’re certain they are out.
- Rustic Sky Horse Camp Policies
Cost Details:
- DAY USE: $10.00 per horse to ride and includes Obstacle Course, Pool, Pavilion, Playground, Turnouts, and Showers.
- STALLS: $15.00 per night per stall – most are 12’ x 12’ while a few are 8’ x 12’. Barn stalls are smaller.
- RV SITES: $40.00 per night – water and electricity, dump station available, $45.00 per night with water, electricity, and sewage. Single Night add-on Fee $15. $15 each over 5 guests.
- PRIMITIVE SITES: $30.00 per night. Water is provided. No sewer or electricity. Picketing is allowed in this area.
Notes: The following is included at no charge while staying at the Rustic Sky Horse Camp. Saloon, Pavilion, Outdoor cooking area with BBQ pits, stove, oven, microwave, refrigerator, pots, pans, and cutlery. They also have a playground area and they provide bathrooms and showers for ALL campers.
