This small and unspoiled haven is perched on the shores of Silver Lake, accessible by either a tranquil 0.6-mile hike down the Goshen Trail or the scenic Service Road.
Silver Lake Campground offers a true escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. As a primitive campground, it provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature without distractions. With only 15 campsites dotted along a wooded road, you'll find yourself surrounded by the soothing embrace of the forest. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring complete with a grill, making it perfect for enjoying meals al fresco and warming up by the fire under the starlit Vermont sky.
The Moosalamoo National Recreation Area consists of 16,000 acres abounding with recreation opportunities. With over 70 miles of well-maintained trails, mountain vistas, waterfalls, lakes, and streams, it offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hunting, and more. From Silver Lake Campground, several hiking and mountain biking trails begin, including the Leicester Hollow / Chandler Ridge loop (open to hiking and biking) and the Rattlesnake Cliff / Aunt Jenny hiking loop (closed March 15 - August 1 for Peregrine Falcon nesting). Fishing and swimming are both popular activities accessible from the campground.
