An easy but long trail through the forest, mostly shaded, sometimes overgrown. No facilities. Occasional wildlife. There are 13.0 miles of marked trails at Doncaster Demonstration Forest, mostly flat, with a few gentle rollers and an occasional steep, but short pitch.
Some areas can become extremely wet, particularly during spring. Due to the forest’s coastal location, however, there is hardly a rock in sight, making these trails more accessible for the novice hiker and biker.
Equestrians share the trails with hikers and mountain bikers. The Maryland Forest Service does not rent horses and only provides the trails as a means of recreation.
For safety, visitors using trails located in designated hunting areas should wear bright orange during the hunting season.
